Despite all the rain over the past week, the facial eczema spores have not been washed away. Unfortunately, we’ve recorded another high spore count this week.
As you can see in the results, Farm 1 and Farm 2 remain very high, with spore counts of 360.000spg & 385.000spg. Farm 1 has shown a slight increase, while Farm 2 has dropped a little — however, it is still well above the safe zone.
In addition to these farms, we also recorded spore counts of 145,000spg and 205,000spg, which again are above the safe range.
We are currently seeing a number of animals — both milkers and young stock — showing clinical signs of facial eczema, so please be aware that this is still very much circulating.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us, or feel free to bring in grass samples if you’d like paddocks tested.
If you are drying off animals, please make sure they are still receiving the correct dose of zinc, or consider using zinc boluses to ensure adequate protection.
